While art is often a depiction of self, Steve Hickok creates selflessly, lending his gifted hand to the canvas and, in turn, the world. His “Bloom Love” series emphasizes connection and affection, likening the flower with its pistil and petals to a global community he hopes to help foster.
As Hickok’s career continues to evolve and take shape, he reached a point where he wanted to work on a collection that promoted a positive message and was meaningful to those who viewed it. He asked himself, “What must I communicate while I’m here that I’ll regret not conveying?”
The emblematic blossoming flower symbolizes a metamorphosis of self by assisting others, strengthening and growing as a cohesive whole. The “bloom,” which adorns each piece in the collection in a unique fashion, suggests the concept of evolution without having to say a word.
Spreading love, reaching out and uplifting others is Hickok’s primary artistic focus from here forward.
“Love of every other thing in the world is the most important. Every single painting now that I do has the words “Bloom Love” in it, and I will always continue to write that down as an emblem and symbol of belief, sharing, giving time to people, trying to aspire to greatness and inspire the world.”
