Michael Benisty a multidisciplinary artist from Antwerp. He has worked with such publications as Architectural Digest, Haute Living and Whitewall Magazine. A successful self-taught photographer, Michael studied metallurgy at a foundry while living in Shanghai where he blended ancient Asian sculpting techniques with this unique process of metalwork. In 2012 Michael collaborated with Nadja Swarovski to create an eight foot stainless steel skull that was adorned with 350,000 black Swarovski crystals. It sold at Art Basel Miami that year for $200k. While developing a mastery of sculptural work, he began to shift his focus in 2016 to themes of love, peace, empathy and enlightenment. The quality of his work is top tier and on level with the production quality of artists like KAWS, Jeff Koons and Yayoi Kusama. Michael Benisty was also selected to be one of the featured artists for Burning Man 2018, a festival that is known for curating a select group of distinguished artists to show at the Playa. His work is highly coveted at present and has can already be found in prestigious collections throughout the world.
"My intention to combine humanity, spirituality, nature and mythicism is not just to build something beautiful,
but rather to create an experience that encourages growth and discovery.” - Michael Benisty
Beginning my journey as an artist, I dreamt of making a change in the world.
Throughout the evolution of my work, in sculptures and installations, I have been honored to witness my pieces transform into community spaces that become filled with global dialogue and self expression without barriers.
I have learned to regard my art to what it means to others, as I now finds inspiration in human evolution.
My intention to combine humanity, spirituality, nature and mythicism is not just to build something beautiful, but rather to create an experience that encourages growth and discovery.
I see my work as both iconic and holistic - with bold pieces that radiate and react to all environments they're placed in.
